The more we automate, the more important data quality becomes

Share
New systems, BI, and AI are creating significant opportunities for the real estate industry. More accurate reporting, better oversight, and faster decision-making can generate substantial and measurable value.
At the same time, these developments place greater demands on the quality of the data on which the technology relies. After all, what is the benefit of advanced systems if the information they work with is incomplete, outdated, or simply incorrect?

“We can automate more, use more systems, improve visualization, and apply AI to an increasing number of tasks. But if the data we work with is not of the highest quality, technology does not necessarily make us better. In the worst case, it simply amplifies the errors,” says Anne Marie Oksen, CEO of CEJ.

Technology and data quality must evolve together

In property management, the same information is used across financial management, operations, reporting, and analytics. Errors or gaps in core data can therefore spread through multiple processes and affect both day-to-day administration and major investment decisions.

This is a challenge we at CEJ often encounter when taking over new property portfolios.

“Data quality is not created in a dashboard. It is created when the right information is recorded correctly, maintained continuously, and someone takes responsibility for it. The more we automate, the more important documentation and discipline become. When used correctly, technology, and AI in particular, can help identify and correct errors and improve quality. However, it must be combined with the right expertise and structure,” explains CFO Brian Jensen.

That is why we are making substantial investments in system support, business intelligence, process optimisation, and the responsible use of AI, while also prioritising a systematic approach to data quality.

It is precisely the combination of investment in technology and a systematic focus on data quality that creates value for our clients and helps them avoid unpleasant surprises, particularly in connection with property transactions.
