From Intern to Trainee – A Career Path at CEJ

That is why we offer internship programs where you get the chance to try your hand at different tasks and find the right fit for you. For two of our current trainees, the internship was the beginning of a journey that has now led them to the trainee role.

Quick Responsibility with Support All the Way

We spoke with Laura and Isabella about their experiences as trainees. They describe that one of the things that makes the trainee program at CEJ unique is the balance between responsibility and support. Laura explains:

“Things moved very quickly when it came to getting responsibility. You are given your own portfolio of properties quite early, but you also have a mentor assigned, which is a huge benefit. We have weekly meetings with our mentor where we follow up and get help to move forward with tasks – that has been really nice.”

Isabella agrees:

“I also got my own portfolio quite quickly. It is great to have responsibility, but at the same time receive guidance from the client managers. It gives a sense of security.”

Opportunity to Find Your Place

One big advantage at CEJ is that interns and trainees get to work with different client segments. Isabella says:

“For me, it helped me figure out which segment I prefer – the older housing stock. It is great to find your place early on.”

Laura had a similar experience:

“I realized I wanted to work with housing associations when I attended a general meeting. I enjoy meeting people and having close collaboration with boards.”

From Internship to Full-Time Trainee

Both highlight the work environment at CEJ as a decisive factor:

“The sense of community here is just something special,” says Isabella. “You are welcomed warmly, and CEJ is open to giving you responsibility – and if you need help, you get it.”

Laura adds:

“The social aspect also means a lot. We have events throughout the year, both company-organized and employee-organized, and you get to know many people across departments. It makes you feel safe and at home at CEJ.”

A Day Full of Variety and Development

As a trainee, not two days are the same. Isabella describes her day:

“I check emails, handle rental inquiries, work with invoices, and communicate with caretakers and clients. It can be anything from a water damage issue to a lease agreement – there is always something new.”

Laura experiences the same:

“I work with accounts, budgets, share transfers, and resident inquiries, and then there are general meetings. It is very varied, and you talk to many different people during the day.”
